Beyonce Knowles has pulled out of 'A Star is Born'.

The 31-year-old singer was due to team up with director Clint Eastwood to portray a young performer who falls in love with an older declining star in the remake of the original 1937 romantic drama film, but the 'Single Ladies' hitmaker has dropped out due to scheduling issues.

She said in a statement to E! News: ''I was looking forward to the production of 'A Star Is Born' and the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood.

''For months we tried to coordinate our schedules to bring this remake to life but it was just not possible. Hopefully in the future we will get a chance to work together.''

It is not yet known who will portray the declining star - who was played by Kris Kristofferson in the 1976 version of the movie with Barbra Streisand starring as the young performer - but Bradley Cooper has been linked to the role.

Beyonce has appeared in a number of movies such as 2006's musical drama 'Dreamgirls' alongside Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx, as well as 'The Pink Panther', opposite Steve Martin and Jean Reno, in the same year.

The upcoming 'A Star is Born' remake will be the fourth version made of the motion picture after Janet Gaynor and Fredric March's 1937 original, which was followed by Judy Garland and James Mason taking the main roles in the 1954 reboot, and then Barbra and Kris in the 1976 version.
