Singer Kylie Minogue penned her new single after doctors warned her during "gruelling" cancer treatment she may not be able to have children.

The Spinning Around hitmaker was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and underwent surgery and chemotherapy to beat the disease

Minogue carried on writing tracks during her health crisis, and she admits her song Flower came about after medics told her she may not be able to conceive.

She tells the Bbc, "I wrote it when I'd finished the first part - the gruelling part - of cancer treatment and I was told then, 'We need to inform you that we can't predict the future... whether it will be possible for you (to have children)'.

"So I guess I wrote it as a question and it's still a question but it's a hopeful question and I just felt like it's a love letter to a child, a spirit, that may or may never be, just putting it out there."

Minogue, who is dating model Andres Velencoso, was given the all-clear in 2006.
