Lady GaGa fondly remembered the late Princess Diana of Wales at a concert in London on Saturday (September 8, 2012). The ‘Born This Way’ star debuted a brand new track titled ‘Princess D.I.E’, which appears to be a tribute to Diana , reports the UK’s Daily Telegraph.
Gaga told the crowd at Twickenham stadium, “Since I was a very young girl, the people's Princess Diana was the most important person in me and my mother's life,” adding, “I swore if I ever had an audience like this in London, I would take a moment to appreciate her. I predict controversy, but I don't care.” She certainly had the London audience on her side, receiving a huge cheer for paying tribute to Diana, and it seems as though her reverence extended outside of the concert. Later, Gaga headed to the Arts Club in Mayfair donning the Alexander McQueen gown that she paid over $100,000 for back in June. The dress –once belonging to Daphne Guinness – looks almost identical to the gown that Princess Diana wore on her wedding day in 1981.
The Twickenham gig was the latest leg of Lady Gaga’s Born This Way tour, though appears to have been one of the pop superstar’s favourite concerts yet. Afterwards, she tweeted, “Twickenham, I’m not even sure what to say. I'll never forget tonight. London you were the fairest of the ball. now THAT was f*cking fun”.
