Hill 'Getting Closer' To Releasing New Album
Reclusive singer Lauryn Hill is quietly plotting the release her first album in over a decade, after making her stage return last month (Aug10).
The former Fugees star staged her U.S. concert comeback at the Rock The Bells festival in San Bernardino, California on 22 August (10), performing fan favourites Fu-Gee-La and Ready or Not to a frenzied crowd.
Hill hasn't released a studio album since her chart-topping The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1998, but the 35 year old tells MTV News, "We're getting closer.... That's all I can say."
And though she's scant on the details, Hill has warned fans not to expect too many collaborations when she does release her long-awaited new album, because she has so much to express after being away for over a decade.
She continues, "I have respect for what people do. I also like to hear the eclectics, I like to hear the mixture. There's a lot of different creative energies out there right now. I respect the different sounds that I'm hearing.
"(But) it's been such a long time since I've gotten my voice and my ideas (out). In terms of collaborations, that's not even something I've been thinking about per se. I'm happy that people are still making music. That we still have a platform with which to make music. It's gonna be interesting to see what the future holds."
