Lea Michele credits Kate Hudson for helping her get through the weeks after Cory Monteith's death.

The 'Glee' actress, whose co-star and boyfriend of one year died from an overdose in his hotel room in Vancouver, Canada, in July, revealed the 'Something Borrowed' star, 34, immediately opened her Los Angeles home and took care of Lea and her family after hearing of the actor's tragic death.

The 27-year-old star told the December issue of Elle magazine: ''I called her and said, I don't know where I'm going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters]. She was like, 'Oh, you're going to stay at my house.' Like it was nothing.

''She let my family stay there, and any of my friends. She made sure that in the refrigerator were my favourite juices. I'll never really be able to thank her, truly, for what she did for me.''

The actresses bonded when Kate, who has two sons, Ryder, nine, and Bingham, two, guest starred on the FOX series for six episodes last year.

Lea is still coming to terms with Cory's death and hopes to help people by being open about the situation.

She said: ''It's very hard and you have to be very strong to come out of this alive, but I think by doing the best for myself, by showing that you don't have to lose yourself, maybe someone else will feel some sort of strength or comfort.''
