Led Zeppelin star Robert Plant has joined Twitter.com.

The rocker has officially entered the digital age by setting up accounts on Twitter, Instagram and Google Plus.

His first ever tweet, posted on Thursday (08Aug13), read: "Are we rolling?" and then he rewarded the first 25,000 fans who signed up to follow him on Twitter by offering them an exclusive free download of a cover of Led Zep's What Is and What Should Never Be, recorded live by his current group the Sensational Space Shifters.

The offer ended within hours as fans flocked to sign up for his musings.

The singer has also updated his website and unveiled a series of new projects, including an upcoming documentary series focusing on his travels through Mali.
