Lena Dunham doesn't want to make her co-stars feel ''violated'' during the 'Girls' sex scenes.

The actress and show creator/director says her numerous kinky bedroom scenes with her on-screen boyfriend Adam (Adam Driver) have taught her not too get too carried away with improvisation and to respect people's boundaries.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the 'Girls' season three UK premiere, she joked: ''We've done it together so much. We also understand each others boundaries. It's really important in a sex scene to know each persons limits and if they're going to be comfortable if you improvise slapping their ass or if it's going to make them feel really weird and violated.''

Lena, 27, has caused controversy for repeatedly appearing nude on the show and has no qualms about filming sex scenes, even testing lewd poses for her co-stars before they get to set.

She laughed: ''There are all these photos of [me and Executive Producer Jenni Konner] acting out Allison [Williams'] sex positions for her. I'm always the guy.''

Meanwhile, Zosia Mamet - who plays ditzy Shosanna - shares some steamy scenes of her own with her new real-life beau Evan Jonigkeit in the upcoming series of the hit Sky Atlantic show, and found the experience very strange.

She blushed: ''It's strange because we've worked together for so many years now and our crew has become such a family that its oddly comfortable but at the same time like simulating sex in front of your family ... We high-fived.''

Lena, Allison and Zosia were joined by Jenni Konner for the Q&A hosted by season 3 guest star Richard E. Grant.

'Girls' season three kicks off on Sky Atlantic on Monday, January 20 at 10pm.
