Lena Dunham has admitted to ''fantasising'' about a 'Girls' movie.

The 28-year-old screenwriter revealed she would like to make a film out of HBO TV series, but doesn't want to see it happen for another decade.

Speaking on the set of the fifth season of the show, she said: ''I have fantasies of us all coming back and making a movie when we're 40.

''I think we'd want to wait long enough for something to have really gone down.''

Lena explained she wants to develop storylines and characters further before turning her attention to a movie.

She told Variety magazine: ''I know we have our darker season and lighter seasons.

''[Season 5] definitely has some darkness. I just wrote an episode in a fever dream. I had a moment where I was like, 'Did I accidentally write a remake of 'Traffic'? What just happened?'''

While she is a way off turning 40, Dunham said she does have an image of how she sees the last episode.

She explained: ''We spent a lot of time talking about where these girls will end up.

''We definitely have a distinct idea of where we want to see them. I even sometimes focus on this final image that I see, but between now and then, anything can happen.''
