Liam Neeson hated not being on set of the new Narnia movie.

The 58-year-old actor voices the character of Aslan The Lion in 'The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' and said he felt very "deprived" because he was only brought in after filming was completed.

He said: "The most difficult thing in doing the film was not being on set with the kids, I felt very deprived by that. I was brought in at the end of shooting to a booth and they would show me a computer mark up of what the lion was like and roughly what he was doing. Of course the film isn't finished at that stage, effects still have to be added."

Liam revealed he was shocked by how much the special effects have improved since shooting the first film in the series five years ago.

He said: "In this one even compared to the first one that came out five years ago the improvement in special effects is amazing."

Although Liam was disappointed he didn't get a chance to work on the set of the new movie, he is proud of the films for remaining true to the original C. S. Lewis books.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2, he said: "They're very beautiful films because they've been very faithful to the books.

"They're beautiful stories of adventures, of these kids - brothers and sisters who get transported into this world of Narnia where they have these glorious travails to go through to learn things about themselves and to save the kingdom of Narnia."
