Lil Wayne is preparing to appeal the outcome of a $2.2 million (£1.4 million) copyright battle issued in favour of producer Quincy Jones Iii over one of the hip-hop star's own songs.

The Lollipop hitmaker, real name Dwayne Carter, filed suit against Jones Iii amid allegations he used the star's music in an unauthorised 2009 documentary about the rapper.

However, Wayne failed to represent himself well in a video deposition and in November (12), the judge punished him for his "irresponsible behaviour" by handing Jones Iii victory in the case and ordering the plaintiff to pay up.

Wayne is now set to challenge the verdict and has filed legal papers indicating his intention to appeal, according to Tmz.com. He now has one month to officially file documents to support his claim.
