Rapper Lil Wayne struggled with his new-found freedom in the days following his prison release last November (10) - because he wasn't in the right frame of mind to party.
The hitmaker served eight months behind bars at New York's notorious Rikers Island prison on illegal weapons possession charges - and he admits it took him weeks to accept he was a free man.
As a result, he couldn't enjoy the celebrations - including a lavish bash in Miami, Florida - planned by his friends and family.
The rap star tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I was out of place, mentally. I didn't talk too much. I had my hood on the whole night, my shades.
"I played the corner - you wouldn't have even known it was my party.
"We went to the strip club afterward, but I didn't really get to enjoy myself. It was too much of a shock."
