Lindsay Lohan has cancelled her birthday party.

The 'Mean Girls' actress - who was sentenced to 35 days house arrest, which she completed at her Californian home yesterday (29.06.11), and 480 hours community service after stealing a necklace from an upmarket boutique and violating terms of her 2007 conviction for driving under The Influence (DUI) - has called off plans to celebrate turning 25 on Saturday (02.07.11).

A source close to the controversial star said: "Lindsay's decided to lay low on her birthday.

"She wants to get as many hours of her community service done as possible because she couldn't do any while she was under house arrest."

Lindsay was due to host her party at Paul Sevigny and Andre Saraiva's joint 40th birthday Celebration at Stadium Red Estate in the Hamptons.

She will now have a "quiet" meal on her birthday with family and close friends.

Upon the completion of her house arrest - which Lindsay was given in lieu of jail time due to prison overcrowding and because she is a non-violent offender - yesterday, she walked to the Los Angeles Downtown Women's Center to begin her community service.

Then in the evening she headed to the Lexington Social Club in Hollywood to attend the leaving party of her close friend "Lyndsy", and after staying at the club for five hours she left with her actor pal Emile Hirsch.

Speaking about the party, the 24-year-old star tweeted: "@lyndsymfonseca and @mdmolinari @ohferras supporting our friend lyndsy for her going away party ... 10months is too long. (sic)"

Lindsay also took to her twitter account to reveal what a great time she had carrying out her community service.

She wrote: "Had a great day today at the Downtown Women's Center. Thank you everyone, staff, volunteers, and the amazing women I get to see for being so kind. (sic)"
