Lindsay Lohan's dad has spoken out about the actress' latest attempts to stay sober and drug-free after a 90-day, court-ordered rehab stay, insisting his daughter is "taking her life seriously".
Loose-lipped Michael Lohan refused to comment about the Mean Girls star's latest treatment and hasn't spoken directly to the media since Lindsay walked out of the Cliffside facility in Malibu, California earlier this month (Aug13).
But, after her appearance on Oprah Winfrey's Next Chapter on Sunday (18Aug13) during which the actress talked about her past drug use, party lifestyle and her relationship with her parents, Lohan's father has broken his silence.
Responding to his daughter's Tv claims that there is no one to blame but herself for her troubles, he tells Life & Style magazine, "I don't think she should have taken any of the blame for what happened to her. It's my fault and (ex-wife) Dina's fault. We put her in the middle of the divorce. Now it's up to me and Dina to make this better."
Lohan revealed she had met with her often-feuding parents over lunch shortly after her rehab release while talking to Oprah, and her dad insists it is now time for the whole family to heal.
He adds, "We really came together in helping her."
And he has high hopes for his daughter's recovery: "Lindsay is back to who she was, a very kindhearted and compassionate person... She has finally surrendered and is taking her life seriously."
