Indie rockers Local Natives edged out rapper Kendrick Lamar to top a new poll of the hardest-working artists of 2013.

The group, which hails from Los Angeles, played a total of 188 shows throughout the year, travelling a total of almost 192,500 miles (309,799 kilometres) to get from gig to gig.

Lamar lost out by 17 concerts, racking up 171 live performances across 229,583 miles (369,478 kilometres), and British band Alt-J landed in third place in the Songkick.com survey with 164 shows in 251,443 miles (404,658 kilometres).

Others featured in the top 10 include Imagine Dragons, One Direction and Willie Nelson.
