Music legends Lou Reed, Michael Stipe and Paul Simon turned out in New York on Sunday night (29Jan12) to celebrate composer PHILIP GLASS' 75th birthday.
The classical writer was the guest of honour at Le Poisson Rouge, and was treated to performances by the Kronos Quartet, his cousin Ira Glass and son Zack Glass, as well as conductor and pianist Dennis Russell Davies and violinist Tim Fain.
Patti Smith, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Martin Scorsese, and Ravi Shankar also attended the bash, where Glass was presented with a special cake decorated with sheet music and pencils, according to the New York Post gossip column Page Six.
