Luke Evans got ''supple'' so he could ''kick people in the head'' in 'Fast & Furious 6'.

The British actor - who plays villain Owen Shaw in the latest installment of the speed racing franchise - wanted to be as physical as his co-stars, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and DWAYNE 'THE ROCK' JOHNSON, and decided to undergo a strict physical regime to prepare for the role.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the film's world premiere in London, he said: ''I was already quite fit and in shape already because I'd been working on 'The Hobbit', and that's a very physical role in itself. For this I had to get myself in a martial arts style fitness, getting myself fast on my feet and get really supple so I could kick people in the head and s**t like that.''

Despite being a newcomer to the franchise, Evans revealed that he wasn't worried about not fitting in with his co-stars - who have worked together for over 10 years on the previous films - and says they were ''very welcoming''.

He added: ''They're not teddy bears [when the cameras stop rolling] but they're very nice people. Really lovely. Very warm bunch. Very kind welcoming group. And they do really like each other which is nice after 10 years of working with each other. Their kids have grown up together and play, it's lovely. But they also know how to let their hair down.''

'Fast & Furious 6' is in cinemas on May 24.
