Madonna's first ever concert in Denmark has been ridiculed by the local media for being nothing more than a "music video". The MATERIAL GIRL performed in front of 85,000 fans in Horsens last night (24AUG06). The gig was the country's largest ever, but Madonna has been criticised in today's (25AUG06) Danish newspapers as most of the crowd were reportedly unable to see the stage properly. Newspaper Berlingske Tidende writes, "It was almost a relief when Madonna tripped in her last song and dropped the microphone on the enormous stage. "It was in fact the only moment during her show in Horsens that you could tell it was a real live person on stage, and not just an open-air music video." Tabloid Ekstra Bladet adds, "The so-called concert by the world famous star in Horsens had nothing to do with music. At most 10 to 20 per cent of the spectators could see what was going on on the stage. The rest had to make do with seeing figures as small as matchsticks singing and dancing on a distant stage." And newspaper Politiken agrees: "Why pay 700 kroner ($120/GBP70) for a concert that could only be seen on a screen?"
