A spat between Madonna and Deadmau5 seems to have blown up over a misunderstanding, so the Queen of pop would have it, with a truce now apparently being reached between the 53 year-old and the mouse-hat wearing producer.
The disagreement came about when Madonna was performing at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami and asked the crowd "How many people in this crowd have seen Molly?," reports MTV News. Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, took exception to that on Facebook. The word Molly is slang for the drug Mdma and he'd assumed that was what the star was referring. "Very classy there Madonna. 'Hur Dur Has Anyone Seen Molly???'" ranted Deadmau5, continuing "Such a great message for the young music lovers at Ultra. Quite the f'n philanthropist. But hey, at least yer Hip And Trendy! F***ing cant smack my head hard enough right now. Seriously, I giveth not a f**king single F**K for slating on Madonna for reaching an entirely New level of idiocy ... i can appreciate her meteoric career, and all good deeds done, but What The F**K Was That? That's your big contribution to Edm? Thats your big message to ultra attendies? Hipsterspeak for looking for drugs? F**k off you f***ing Idiot. F**k," he finished in a profanity laden statement.
He even took his argument to a Twitter Q&A Madonna was holding, and told her "You're a role model to 100's of millions. You have a powerful voice, Edm could use your positive influence, not "molly" talk." However, Madonna replied to him "From one mouse to another, I don't support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song 'Have You Seen Molly?', written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my album." Amicability was finally restored when Deadmau5 responded "fair enough, i was just voicing my concerns as i usually do. +1 respect for clearing it up personally," to which she replied, "Communication is always best. You should have called me first, we could have cleared it up 'privately'. ;) See you on the road". Phew.
