Rapper Maino lost out on a number of big business deals after he was slapped with assault charges following false allegations of an altercation with adult actress Mellanie Monroe.

The Hi Hater hitmaker, real name Jermaine Coleman, was arrested in October (14) on counts of misdemeanour assault for reportedly attacking Monroe outside a nightclub in New York.

The porn star subsequently confessed to lying about the incident and Maino's charges have since been dropped, but he claims the scandal has already cost him work outside the music industry.

In an interview with New York radio personality Sway, he says, "It cost me certain situations I had on the table. We do business in other places. It ain't just off of rap and shows (sic). Nobody wants to stand next to an accused woman beater."

Maino also shared his version of his encounter with Monroe, claiming she was angry because the hip-hop star had asked her to get out of his car.

He adds, "Home girl was embarrassed because she was getting kicked out. I guess it was a situation where she thought she could get away with that. But I'm too sexy for jail."
