Homeland star Mandy Patinkin turned heads at a New York court on Monday (01Apr13) when he reported for jury selection.

Patinkin, who plays gruff Central Intelligence Agency (Cia) chief Saul Berenson, was among a group of potential jurors who were questioned ahead of an upcoming trial at Manhattan's Centre Street courthouse.

A source tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "He was questioned as part of the group for a trial. But it was a little awkward because the lawyers asked him very personal questions, like where he lived, what he did for a living. He said he was an actor but didn't say what show, but in the middle of the potential jurors being questioned, the judge said he was a 'big fan'."

The actor was dismissed at the end of the session after failing to be selected for jury service.
