Manolo Blahnik wants Kate Middleton's wedding shoes to represent "springtime".

The brunette beauty will marry Prince William on April 29 at London's Westminster Abbey and the legendary shoe designer is keen for the future queen's footwear to be quite classic.

He told WWD: "An ivory silk pump with organza lilies of the valley and sea pearls. It represents springtime and everything fresh and new, which is what Kate Middleton is all about."

However, fellow shoe designer Giuesppe Zanotti wants Kate to take a less traditional approach to her bridal footwear.

He said: "I want her shoes to match the classic and sophisticated elements of her ring, but with a younger, modern edge. Jewellery for the feet is my DNA, so designing for a princess comes very naturally."

There has been much speculation as to what Kate will wear on her big day ever since their engagement was announced last November, but she is keen to keep everything a secret as she wants to surprise William.

Speaking about her dress, a Clarence House spokesperson said: "We have no announcement to make as regards the Royal Wedding dress. Miss Middleton would like for it to be a surprise for Prince William on the day of their wedding and as such we may not announce it until the day. That may change - but for now that is all that can be said.

"April 29 will be very much their day and they are involved in every aspect of all the decisions being made about how the day will work. It's a complicated process and it takes time."
