Mariah Carey is continuing her big push into the movie business - she has landed a role in a new film playing a dowdy social worker.
Carey is determined to make her mark in Hollywood following her disastrous debut in 2001's Glitter - which was a major box office flop and earned the pop star some scathing reviews.
She has since landed a starring role in the upcoming Tennessee and recently confirmed she is taking on another project inspired by her best-selling Yuletide album.
And Carey has now added a third movie to her plans, with a supporting role in Push alongside child star Dakota Fanning.
The Hero hitmaker will shed her glamorous image to play a dowdy New York social worker.
She says, "I'm not going to be a pretty picture. The role's a supporting part - a little scene - but it's a very important scene. I don't want to reveal what happens, but my character is important because things are revealed through her."
Push is scheduled for release in February 2009.
