Mariah Carey is to be honoured for her acting skills at the 21st Palm Springs International Film Festival in January (10).
Her make-up-free five minutes in new film Precious, in which she plays a social worker, was enough to wow awards organisers, who plan to hand the pop superstar their Breakthrough Performance Award.
She'll be honoured at the Palm Springs Convention Center on 5 January (09).
Previous stars to receive the award include Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto and Oscar winners Jennifer Hudson and Marion Cotillard.
