Angry Christian groups surrounded the Pomona Fox Theater in California ahead of Marilyn Manson's concert there on Tuesday (25Aug09) to protest the shock rocker's love for all things devilish.
The activists urged fans attending the sold-out show to turn their back on dark-themed music and study Jesus and God.
Rod Warner, the leader of the group, calling themselves the Bible Believers, told the San Bernardino County Sun newspaper, "The only thing I'm out here to accomplish is what the lord, Jesus Christ, through my belief, tells me to accomplish. And that's take his gospel to the lost."
"Every shirt you see here depicts nothing but death. They can say they're Christians if they want to, but the Lord says worship me with your heart not your mouth."
But Manson trumped his opponents onstage - he brought Slayer guitarist Kerry King out to perform with him.
