Marilyn Monroe's sexuality has come under the spotlight again thanks to revelations from the president of the actress' fan club, who was 16 when she allegedly romanced her idol.
Jane Lawrence claims Monroe dubbed her "my little secret" - the title of Tony Jerris' new biography, in which she opens up about her trysts with the tragic movie star.
Jerris tells the Globe, "They realised that they had been in the same orphanage at different times of their lives - even though Marilyn was 14 years older... They became close friends because there were so many similarities."
But the friendship turned intimate in 1955 when a visit to Monroe's apartment sparked a brief fling for Lawrence - and helped her realise she was gay.
In the book, Lawrence recalls, "My pulse leaped as Marilyn kissed my thigh... She then leaned in and kissed me full on the lips, very softly and very slowly.
"I was nearly hyperventilating. We moved through the living room into the bedroom."
The couple had sex, but Lawrence insists the night of passion didn't ruin the couple's friendship - and they remained close up until Monroe's death in 1962.
The latest revelations come just weeks after the release of Darwin Porter's book Marilyn at Rainbow's End, in which the author claimed Monroe enjoyed a brief romance with Elizabeth Taylor.
