Marilyn Monroe's love letters, featuring correspondence with ex-husbands Joe Dimaggio and Arthur Miller, have fetched over $120,000 (£75,000) at auction.

A handwritten note sent to the late actress by baseball legend DiMaggio after she announced she was divorcing him sold for $78,125 (£48,828) on Saturday (06Dec14) at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, California, while a missive from Monroe to her third husband, playwright Miller, earned $43,750 (£27,344).

The letters were part of a vast collection of the tragic movie icon's belongings, including clothes, make-up, hair pins and lingerie, that hit the auction block over the weekend (06-07Dec14).

Monroe passed away in 1962.
