Katy Perry will make her Broadway debut as Marilyn Monroe in the theatrical adaptation of Michelle Williams' new film My Week With Marilyn, if movie mogul Harvey Weinstein gets his way.
The producer has revealed that Perry is at the top of his casting wish list as he starts work on the ambitious production.
He tells Eoline, "If the movie works, I would try to make it a musical and I would go to Katy first. I think she can play Marilyn on the Broadway stage... I think she would be amazing."
And Weinstein believes Perry has given the new film a big boost - even though she's not in it.
A remix of the I Kissed a Girl hitmaker's new song The One That Got Away features in a new trailer for the movie - and that has created interest among her fans.
He adds, "Katy posted about it on her Twitter and Facebook (accounts) and the next thing you know 250,000 people have downloaded the trailer in an hour."
