STAR WARS star Mark Hamill has spoken of his envy of the latest films in the sci-fi series.

The actor, who famously portrayed Luke Skywalker in the original sci-fi movies, says he finds it difficult to watch George Lucas' recent prequels.

Hamill, 52, says, "I guess it is wanting to prove to myself and the world that I have a second and a third act in me.

"Partly I'm jealous in wanting to be a part in all the new stuff George does.

"I don't want a lot of strangers rifling through my toybox. I go, 'That's my lightsabre. That's my wookie.'

"I love those films and I have the greatest respect for George and everything he has created."

Hamill now does voices of cartoon characters.
