Filmmaker Mark Romanek is in talks to direct a film about the Boston Strangler, starring Casey Affleck.

The Gone Baby Gone star will also executive produce the movie, which will be based on the true story of Albert DeSalvo, who confessed to murdering 13 women in the Boston, Massachusetts area, according to Variety.com.

Affleck will reportedly play a detective investigating the infamous crimes.

DeSalvo was first depicted on the big screen in 1968 by Tony Curtis in the Richard Fleischer film The Boston Strangler, which also featured Henry Fonda.

The actor who will portray the new Boston Strangler has yet to be cast.
