Marlon Wayans is having a laugh as he prepares to play comedy legend Richard Pryor in a new biopic - he has been working America's stand-up circuit to hone his comic talents.
The actor admits he felt like he'd "won the lottery" the day he heard he'd been picked to play the late comedian in director Bill Condon's film, Is It Something I Said? and he didn't waste any time in preparing for the role.
He says, "I've been doing stand-up now for a year and a half to prepare for the moment I do Pryor. I'd never done stand-up before until actually this last year. I'm touring now... I'm really preparing for this, I'm taking this seriously."
