Former Wet Wet Wet singer Marti Pellow has been forced to take a break from his stage role after injuring his nose during Tuesday's (28Jun11) performance.
The Love Is All Around hitmaker is currently starring in Jekyll and Hyde at the Milton Keynes Theatre in Buckinghamshire, England.
Midway through the show on Tuesday evening, Pellow was accidentally struck in the face by a dancer and was taken into hospital, where it was revealed he has a badly bruised cartilage in his nose.
His understudy, Martin DICkinson, stepped in to complete the night's performance, and will continue to stand in for the singer while he recuperates.
A statement from a theatre spokesman reads, "On Tuesday evening, halfway through act two, Marti Pellow was accidentally hit in the face by a fellow performer, resulting in his understudy going on to complete the show.
"The cartilage in Marti's nose is badly bruised and it is anticipated he will not be able to perform until the weekend, or by the latest (on) Monday.
"The show will continue and Marti's understudy, Martin DICkinson, will play the title role."
