Ever the gentleman, Martin Short is willing to forgive and forget Kathie Lee Gifford for the uncomfortable position he found himself in during an interview on the Today show this week. Not realising that Short's wife Nancy Dolman had died over cancer in 2010, Gifford commented that the couple had "one of the greatest marriages of anybody in show business".
With the awkwardness climbing by the second, Gifford then asked how many years the couple had been together, before jokingly asking Short why he was still in love with his wife. The actor answered the questions without correcting Gifford, though the host was alerted to her glaring mistake in the commercial break and apologized to Dolman's family and friends. However, Short is holding no grudges, and after the interview told E! News, "On live television, people make mistakes. There's no ill will intended. It's nice to aspire to be kind of elegant". The comedy actor - who stars in 'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted' - met Dolman in 1972, before the couple married in 1980.
Short is perhaps best known for his roles in the 'Father of the Bride' movies with Steve Martin, though works regularly in Hollywood as an actor, producer and writer.
