Max Clifford - Publicist Max Clifford Charged With Indecent Assaults
The Pr guru, whose clients have also included Simon Cowell, denied historical sex abuse allegations against him following his arrest in December (12) as part of Operation Yewtree, a police probe into claims that late Tv star Sir Jimmy Savile abused up to 300 youngsters throughout his long-running entertainment career.
Authorities revealed he was being interviewed about offences that do not directly relate to Savile.
Clifford, who was released on bail, confirmed he was facing two accusations dating back to 1977.
On Friday (26Apr13), lawmakers at Britain's Crown Prosecution Service confirmed they had authorised police to charge Clifford with 11 indecent assaults allegedly committed between 1966 and 1985.
A spokesperson for the Cps says, "We have carefully considered the evidence gathered... in relation to Max Clifford who was initially arrested on 6 December 2012 over allegations of sexual offenses.
"We have concluded that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest for Mr. Clifford to be charged with 11 offenses of indecent assault relating to seven complainants."
Clifford, 70, will appear in court on 28 May (13).
