'Terminator Salvation' director McG is the frontrunner to direct the pilot episode for the new 'Wonder Woman' TV series on NBC.
The DC Comics superhero was set to be brought to life on the big screen, but studio Warner Brothers decided they would prefer to launch the character on television.
The Script has been penned by David E. Kelley, who is responsible for creating 'Ally Mcbeal' and 'Boston Legal' among a number of other popular TV shows and several films, including man-eating crocodile movie 'Lake Placid', which starred Bridget Fonda.
McG - real name Joseph McGinty Nichol - previous successes include the 'Charlie's Angels' films and the TV shows 'Chuck', 'Supernatural' and 'Nikita'.
'Wonder Woman' was originally a hit on TV in the 70s with Lynda Carter donning the character's famous red and gold costume.
It is not yet known who will take on the iconic role of Wonder Woman and her alter-ego Diana Prince in the series.
