Mel Gibson Brands Anti-Semitism A Sin
Hollywood actor Mel Gibson insists he holds a great respect for the Jewish community - because his devotion to Catholicism prevents him from being anti-Semitic.
Gibson has faced an uproar from the Jewish community, many of whom have accused his upcoming movie The Passion Of The Christ, of potentially sparking anti-Semitism because of its depiction of the role of some Jews in the death of JESUS.
But the BRAVEHEART star insists the movie is a faithful biblical narrative, which is about "faith, hope, love and forgiveness".
He says, "To be anti-Semitic is a sin. It's been condemned by one Papal Council after another. To be anti-Semitic is to be unchristian, and I'm not."20/02/2004 09:12
