Mel Gibson was left unhurt after crashing his sports-car into a Malibu hillside on Sunday 15th August 2010. The California Highway Patrol said Gibson's 2008 Maserati careered off the southbound Malibu Canyon Road, which left the ACADEMY AWARD winning actor needing to be picked up at the scene by a friend. The 54-year-old was alone in the car during the accident, and the authorities do not suspect that alcohol was involved. It is currently unclear how much damage was done to Gibson's vehicle. Vince Ramirez of the California Highway Patrol told UsMagazine.com, "Mr Gibson supplied all the pertinent information to the officers at the scene".
The Hollywood actor has endured a testing few months as he seeks to win a custody battle over his daughter with Russian singer OKSANA GRIGORIEVA. In June 2010, popular website Radar online posted an eight-minute recording, alleged to be a conversation between Gibson and Grigorieva. Throughout the recording, a voice believed to be Gibson is heard in an aggressive rage, however, Alan Nierob, a spokesman for Gibson, has refused to comment on the legitimacy of the tape.
Gibson's glittering film career includes a Best Director OSCAR for the 1995 film Braveheart, as well as starring roles in the OSCAR nominated The Patriot in 2000, and the Sci-Fi drama, Signs, in 2002.
