The creator of Melissa Joan Hart's hit U.S. Tv series Clarissa Explains It All is penning a sequel - as a novel.

The popular teenage sitcom followed Clarissa Darling as she dealt with the ups and downs of high school during the 1990s, and now filmmaker Mitchell Kriegman is turning author to carry on the storyline in Things I Can't Explain.

The book, which will follow Darling as she navigates life as a 23-year-old journalist, is set to hit stores next autumn (14), exactly two decades after the programme went off air, according to Entertainment Weekly.
