Melissa Rivers will be ''forever grateful'' for the kind tributes fans have paid to her late mother.

The 46 year old has thanked supporters of Joan Rivers following the 81-year-old star's death earlier this month, and admits the loving messages she and son Cooper have received during this tough time has given them both a lift.

What's more, she called for the former 'Fashion Police' host's fans to continue to honour her legacy.

In a post on WhoSay, she wrote: ''As my son Cooper and I mourn the loss of my mother, we want to thank everyone for the beautiful cards and flowers conveying heartfelt messages and condolences, which continue to arrive from around the world and through social media.

''My mother would have been overwhelmed by the scope and depth of the love that people have expressed for her. It is certainly helping to lift our spirits during this time. (sic)''
