Metallica would ''love'' to headline England's Glastonbury festival.
The 'Enter Sandman' heavy metal group would love to headline the British festival - one of the biggest in Europe - but have never been invited by organisers Michael and Emily Eavis.
''It's something I would love to do at some point. We love playing, we love connecting with people, and you want to try to do that in as many situations as possible. Mid May to September in Europe, it doesn't get better than that.''
The band - completed by James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo - are staging their own festival, Orion Music + More, in New Jersey in the US, and Lars said they are hoping to capture the same kind of feel as European festivals and export it.
He added: ''We were invited to play Bonaroo in 2008 and that was the first time we saw the European festival model work In America, the whole thing was a total mindf**k, it was great - it was us.
''The people were really accepting towards Diversity, so it was back then we started thinking about doing our own thing. We really want to have that kind of European diversity and that sense of Discovery.''
''It's going to be a pretty full f***ing three days! But having your own festival, it's a pretty cool thing.''
