Rockers Metallica made a cancer-stricken fan's dream come true last month (Oct10), after inviting the teenager backstage at a show in New Zealand.
Jed Roberts, who is battling acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, was stunned to learn bosses at charitable foundation Make-A-Wish New Zealand had arranged for him to meet his idols before their Auckland concert on 14 October (10).
The 17 year old admits he felt "nervous, excited... and I couldn't really wait for the night" but almost missed out on the meet-and-greet after his condition worsened.
His father Dean says, "Jed knew what he wanted. I was very proud of him."

I read the full story on this in another publication and was once again heartened by James, Lars, Kirk and Rob. That is the reason I drove over 1,000 km to go see them, that is why I listen to their music and play it in my shop. That is why you hear me whistle on the live recording of "Orion" at their 14th October 2010 concert in Auckland. These guys are why an old hippie of 52 years young and a woman to boot is still alive today. Thank you for that night guys and thank you for saving my life many times over.
