Michael Fassbender is off the market, ladies. The 35-year-old actor - who in the past has remained tight-lipped about his private life - says he is dating his 'Shame' co-star Nicole Beharie.
Speaking to Us Gq magazine, the German-born actor said, "I'm seeing Nicole, we're trying to see each other as often as possible". Fassbender met the actress while on the set of the BAFTA-nominated drama, though their relationship didn't begin until after the shoot, saying, "Nothing happened while we were filming. We started talking more on the promotion thing. So, yeah, it just sort of unfolded like that". Fassbender plays sex addict Brandon in Steve McQueen's gripping drama, while Beharie portrayed the co-worker that he has a crush on. Many critics were stunned when the Academy snubbed Fassbender for a nomination at this year's Oscars, and the actor admits he let the buzz surrounding the movie get into his head, saying, "At the beginning people [say], 'You're going to be going to the Oscars,' and you're like, 'Whatever, doesn't matter, don't think so.' But after a while it does penetrate. After a while you're like, 'Anyway, so I'm going to the Oscars. And you start to believe it. And I did. I thought I was going. And then I found out I wasn't and I was upset. I was very upset by it. The first reaction was 'What the f**k?"
Fassbender has plenty of chances to scoop at Oscar nomination for next year's ceremony, with high profile roles in the likes of 'Prometheus' and 'Twelve Years a Slave' coming up.
