Michael J Fox, the legendary Hollywood actor, has signed on to guest star in an episode of the drama series The Good Wife, CBS announced today. Fox - best known for his role in the Back to the Future trilogy - will play Simon Canning, a litigator who goes head to head with Alicia, played by Julianna Margulies. CBS describe Canning as a character "willing to use anything in court, including symptoms of his neurological condition, to create sympathy for his otherwise unsympathetic client: a giant pharmaceutical company." Creators of The Good Wife Robert and MICHELLE KING said today, "We're absolutely thrilled that Michael has agreed to play this role. His intelligence as an actor, combined with his incredible comic timing will really bring this smart, cynical lawyer to life."
Fox - who suffers from Parkinson's disease - won an EMMY AWARD for his role in Spin City, as well as winning the EMMY AWARD for Outstanding Guest Actor in 2009 for his work on Rescue Me.
The Good Wife has received nine EMMY AWARD nominations in total, including Best Drama and Best Dramatic Actress, for Marguiles. The show's second season is set to hit screens on September 28th 2010.
