A 'Glee' concert movie is to be released in cinemas.

Studio 20th Century Fox TV is to produce the project - which features songs performed by Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Dianna Agron, and the rest of the cast - for a two-week limited release in the US from August 12, with other worldwide dates yet to be set.

It is expected to follow in the footsteps of fellow concert movies 'This Is It!' featuring the late Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber documentary 'Never Say Never'.

Kevin Tancharoen, who directed the 2010 version of musical 'Fame', is helming the project, which will also feature backstage footage.

The tour - which features 14 original cast members - is currently running in the US, before heading to the UK in late June.

'Glee' has been a huge ratings hit for Fox, with its stars recording albums and performing in their own right since the start of the show.

It is currently in its second season, and Matthew Morrison - who plays teacher Will Schuester - recently confirmed a character will die at the end of the series.

He said: "Somebody's dying. Obviously I'm not going to tell you who it is, but it is no-one you would probably expect.

"The episode right before the finale is called 'Funeral'. We were actually at a funeral home yesterday, shooting all day. It was a very taxing day."
