Michael Sheen has a cameo role in Terrence Malick's new untitled drama.

The 'Kingdom of Heaven' actor went to visit his girlfriend Rachel McAdams on the scene of the movie and found the director was not prepared to let him leave until he shot a scene, which he did.

He told Playlist: "My girlfriend was in a film that Terrence Malick did so I went to visit her on set and apparently, if you're an actor and you turn up on a Terrence Malick set, he asks you to be in his film. So I got to be Ben Affleck's boss for the day."

Although little is known about the film, there is a large cast attached, included Javier Bardem, Rachel Weisz and Jessica Chastain.

However, Malick is well known for cutting scenes in post-production - Gary Oldman, Martin Sheen and Billy Bob Thornton all shot parts in 'The Thin Red Line' but they were all left out of the final edit.
