Sir Mick Jagger will cook Christmas dinner for his ex Jerry Hall after having a ''rough time'' following the death of his girlfriend L'Wren Scott.

The 71-year-old rocker has been put in charge of cooking the turkey and sorting out presents for the former model and their four children, Elizabeth, 30, James, 29, Georgia, 22 and Gabriel, 16, and the 58-year-old star thinks it will be good for him to keep busy over the festive period in the wake of the fashion designer's suicide in March.

Jerry - who was married to the Rolling Stones frontman for nine years - said: ''My ex Mick has been holding down the fort. He's going to organise the Christmas tree, stockings, the food. We're very friendly.

''I think it's quite good for him. He's just coming off a tour. He's had a rough time. It'll be good for him to be busy with the kids and doing all that.''

While Mick looks set to be busy over the festive period, he won't have to think about what to buy Jerry for Christmas as she has already dropped plenty of hints that she wants a fridge freezer with an ice maker.

Speaking on ITV's 'Lorraine', she added: ''He's getting me a new fridge freezer ... I hope. I want an ice maker.

''Hopefully he hears this. I've already hinted a lot.''

Jerry has enlisted Mick's help as she is going to be busy starring in pantomime in London as the Wicked Queen in 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarves' over the festive period, and she cannot wait to have all of her family around her at Christmas time.

Speaking about her children's achievements, she said: ''Both my daughters are modelling, very successfully. I'm so proud of them. My son James just acted in a HBO series directed by Martin Scorsese. My 16-year-old Gabriel wants to be a history teacher.''
