Sir Mick Jagger demanded Maroon 5 edit their original Moves Like Jagger music video because there were too many shots of him in it.
Adam Levine's band teamed up with Christina Aguilera to record the electro-pop tribute to the Rolling Stones frontman, which topped the U.S. pop charts last month (Aug11).
But while the legendary rocker is a big fan of the single, he wasn't impressed with the first version of the music video.
Jagger tells British newspaper The Times, "It's kind of odd. Moves Like Jagger is seriously catchy. I can sing it for you if you want, but I'll spare you that. I knew all about it, it wasn't like a surprise to me. I know the band, I know Christina, I know the video director, and they kept sending me the video cuts with me in it.
"There was far too much of me in the first one, I was going, 'What about the rest of the band!' So I cut out a bit."
Jagger also reveals he turned down the chance to perform the song live with Maroon 5 because he couldn't bear to sing about himself.
He adds, "Maroon 5 asked me to come and do this show with them! What am I going to do? Sing it? I don't think I'm going to be there."
