Girl Power Zombie Film Tops U.s. Box Office
Model-turned-action star Milla Jovovich, Ashanti and HEROES actress Ali Larter have taken girl power to the top of the U.S. box office in the third Resident Evil movie.
The trio's zombie-blasting video game-inspired action film, Resident Evil: Extinction, beat off all competition over the weekend with an estimated $24 million (GBP12 million) take.
It marks a record for the Resident Evil franchise - Resident Evil: Apocalypse opened with $23 million (GBP11.5 million) in 2004.
Pregnant Jovovich has starred in all three films.
Jessica Alba comedy Good Luck Chuck debuted at number two with $14 million (GBP7 million) and last weekend's (16Sep07) number one, The Brave One, falls to three.
