Leann Rimes wants to play Mindy McCready in a movie.

The 'Can't Fight The Moonlight' singer is a huge fan of the talented country star - who committed suicide in February - and would reportedly love to tackle her tragic life story on the big screen.

A source told In Touch magazine: ''She is negotiating to buy the rights to Mindy's story and star as her. She is done with all of the drama in her own personal life and wants to concentrate on her career, especially acting.''

Though she's best known as a singer, Rimes has starred in a string of movies and also famously provided the soundtrack to hit 2000 film 'Coyote Ugly' starring Piper Perabo, while a cover of her 1997 hit single 'How Do I Live' was used on the soundtrack to Nicolas Cage's thriller 'Con Air'.

McCready was found dead on the front porch of her Arkansas home last month after Cleburne County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a gunshot from the house.

The singer's death came just one month after her long-term partner David Wilson committed suicide also using a gun.
