Mindy Mccready - Mindy Mccready Was Working On Suicide Prevention Video Days Before Death
Tragic country singer Mindy McCready had just recorded an emotional new song to help those contemplating suicide days before she allegedly took her own life on Sunday (17Feb13).
The embattled star agreed to cover new track I'll See You Yesterday after identifying with fan Courtney Dashe's lyrics as she mourned the sudden death of her producer boyfriend David Wilson last month (Jan13).
She told her longtime friend and Los Angeles-based private investigator Dan Hanks about the tune during a phone call on Saturday afternoon (16Feb13), saying, "It's such a beautiful song, it must be heard."
MCCready, who had struggled with substance abuse, legal woes and suicidal tendencies for years, had planned to use the song for a suicide prevention video she had asked Hanks to work on.
Hanks always taped the pair's conversations with MCCready's prior consent, and it is only now, after listening back to her chilling final call, that he can identify the tell-tale signs of her mental instability.
He tells Eonline.com, "She said she wanted to put together this video to help people deal (sic) when someone had suffered a suicide in their life and, God, she was literally having me write her suicide note. If I had known, I would have made sure someone was there with her all the time.
"She told me about this new song she was excited about, called I'll See You Yesterday. Normally she would write her own songs, but a fan of hers had given it to her and asked if she would like to record it. She gave me a copy of it and it really looked like things were on the upswing for her.
"The strange thing about it in hindsight, looking back, she is feeding me this stuff for the video she said, 'I have someone working on getting all the rights in place it will be licenced for Courtney to get the royalties,' and I was like, 'Hey, what is the big deal?' But now I understand she wanted to make sure it got out there and there was no copyright problems for it being up there."
Police in Arkansas have launched an investigation into her final hours, although they believe the 37 year old died from a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Detectives are also looking into the passing of Wilson, who was found dead from an apparent suicide at the same property in January (13). He was the father of her second son, Zayne, who was born last year (12).
