Minnie Driver proved she's so much more than a successful actress when made her live singing debut at Austin, Texas' South by Southwest festival at the weekend (20MAR04).

The British movie star donned a cowboy hat to perform tracks from her debut pop album with her six-piece band.

Driver completed the album last year (03) in Los Angeles, but still has no set plans to release the record, although she hopes to tour later this year (04).

She says, "I'm looking for a deal, and I think I'm pretty close. I'll tour when the time is right."

Driver was joined onstage by American rocker Pete Yorn for her performance of new tune LIVING ON A WIRE. Yorn's label TRAMPOLINE RECORDS is one of many companies interested in signing Driver up.

The short RITZ BAR show wasn't Austin's only brush with Hollywood in the past week - French actress Julie Delpy's group performed a show on St Patrick's Day (17MAR04) and rockers-turned-actors Dwight Yoakam and Kris Kristofferson were also among the South By Southwest line-up.
